INCREDIBLE!

Saturday, February 18th
Sorry I'm late in posting yesterday's events.. Instead of writing a blog I was preoccupied with editing a short clip of some footage I took during yesterday's mountain session. So anyway, instead of boring you with meaningless words I'll let you look at some of the photos I took of yesterday's ride... enjoy!

Incredible! すばらしぃ〜!

Sunday, February 19th
Arrived at practice 20 minutes late today, but the weather was perfect! B-team rode hard and the legs feel good! Nothing more to say!

Okay, now that you've read all the way to the bottom you can view the short clip of yesterday's ride! Hope you enjoy!

DEEP is GOOD!

mild wind, sunny skies, few cars!
Go B team Go!
Today is Sunday and that means practice. Woke up earlier than usual to eat a good breakfast and drink a nice cup of coffee. Yesterday's ride on the deep rims was good, but I'm still not totally convinced that these wheels are worth all the hype. Hopefully today will work out better! Like yesterday, besides the cold, the weather is perfect. Slight wind, and not a single cloud in sight! There's about twenty of us today and and a few guys still testing out the deep rims. B team was made up with Pei, Y-naks, T-nabs, Wakasan and myself. With the deep rims I was able to keep pace the first 7 laps with ease on only my inner chainring. The last laps felt even better in the outer chainring! Is it my legs?.. I wish.. the deep rims work after all!
鼻穿りしているの何方でしょ!?
My evaluation: If you've got the power to push a big gear with these stiff wheels they are a wonder. Otherwise you'll just get tired real fast (like yeseterday). On the flats, they'll keep on rolling especially above 35kmph.
Menu: Mabo Tofu set
Riding on these wheels won't get you much practice, so I'm back to my old wheels. Maybe one day when I'm rich I'll consider buying some?

Oh, and EASTON is back!

tiger horse (虎馬)

Today's ride took the Saturday group from Fukuyama > Onomichi where we met up with marathon maniac Ynaks! Still hungover from yesterdays night out, but off we went!
Anske, Ynaks, Pei
You gotta enjoy the view sometimes!
Sunami > Mihara
Hassaku Daifuku!
lunch time! ramen + gyoza set!

From there we headed to Innoshima and rode the less traveled hilly route. With deep rims the flats were no problem! Especially from 35kmph and above! I tested the wheels and my legs on the hilly coast of Ikuchijima. Attack! Things went well until I was caught by Pei on the last climb...  I'm tired. I can't breathe. I'm going to puke.. Trauma(虎馬)!

After recovering we descended and headed to Setoda Port on Ikuchijima. The four of us pulled on the front keeping good pace. Just as we arrive, we see the ferry pulling out.. terrible timing! After waiting for the next ferry we arrived in Mihara for a much needed lunch break!

Energized. Next, we checked out the Mihara Daruma Festival. Lots of people, festive environment, the smell of food stands! I want a beer! Before it gets too late we head back to  Fukuyama for a distance of 100km.

Maybe deep rims aren't for me? They work well at high speeds and seem to be fast on climbs, too but somethings not right... Maybe we'll get along at tomorrow's practice?? We'll find out!

Going deep

Went in to the shop to pick up my front Easton EA90SLX wheel that had to get a rim replacement, but instead I left with some Bontrager Aura5's! No, these are nothing compared to the Aeolus 9.0 Clinchers or Cosmic Carbone, but for their affordable price and quality why not give it a test ride!? Never really experienced the power and speed deep rims have to offer, but I'll tell you all about it on Saturday!

dissapointment...

Yesterdays 100km was the first of this year and definitely the first time since this winter. Although the legs felt good yesterday, I woke up this morning with stiff legs. After arriving late to practice I was able to join the C-team squad. For some reason everyone is riding as if they're doping!.. Turns out Ken's is now offering free test rides on wheels! So of course I took the chance! However, exhausted from practice and yesterdays ride I honestly couldn't tell the difference deep rims make! No power to push, what so ever... how disappointing.

This post is late so I'll keep it short and sweet. For your viewing pleasure..!
